Lycoriella auripila (Winnertz, 1867)
In some countries, this species of fungus gnats is a significant pest of cultivated mushrooms like the popular Agaricus bisporus. The larvae live in the culture medium, feeding on the medium and the mushroom mycelia. Biological control with the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema feltiae or with soil-living predatory mites has given promising results.
