Brachycaudus helichrysi (Kaltenbach, 1843) - (leaf curling plum aphid)

This aphid has a world-wide distribution in temperate regions. The primary hosts are plum and other Prunus species. The secondary hosts include sunflower, other Asteraceae, artichoke and clover. Some populations only reproduce asexually. It is also a vector of the Plum pox virus (PPV).

Aptera grow to a length of 1-2 mm. The colour of aptera is usually greenish but the cauda is lighter and populations on the secondary host are often light green to yellowish. The winged forms can be darker.
