Cucurbita moschata, new phytoplasma host in Brazil
Journal of Plant Pathology 88 (2), 226-226
Abstract: Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata) plants grown in southern Brazil had been previously observed with symptoms of chlorosis of the shoots and leaves, reduced leaf size, and fruit malformation. The presence of phytoplasmas had been demonstrated in the diseased plants which have now been further studied. DNA and PCR analyses showed that all phytoplasma samples were indistinguishable from those reported previously for the chayote witches' broom phytoplasma which belongs to the 16SrIII group, subgroup J.
