Resistance to tomato yellow mosaic geminivirus and presence of viral DNA in some species of Solanaceae
Journal of Phytopathology - Phytopathologische Zeitschrift 144 (3), 163-165
Abstract: In this work we studied tomato yellow mosaic geminivirus (ToYMV) symptoms and DNA presence in several species of Solanaceae: Lycopersicon esculentum, Lycopersicon peruvianum, Lycium barbarum, Nicotiana benthamiana, Solanum lycopersicoides, Solarium quitoense and Solarium rickii. After mechanical and insect transmission, in both greenhouse and open field, we found plants of Lycium barbarum and Solanum lycopersicoides to be resistance to ToYMV. Polymerase chain reaction analysis showed that the resistant plants did not contain viral DNA.
