A survey of spiders in apple trees in the Willamette Valley of Oregon
Journal of Entomological Science 36 (2), 214-217
Abstract: A four-year survey was conducted in one abandoned and two highly managed apple orchards in Oregon, U.S.A. to investigate the fauna of predator spiders, regarded as natural enemies of plant-feeding mites, scales, aphids and lepidoptera. 1,144 specimens, representing 12 families, 26 genera and 30 identifiable species were collected. The most common sepcies were: Metaphidippus aeneolus (22%), Spirembolus mundus (14%), Cheiracanthium inclusum (13%), Philodromus spectabilis (8%), Eris marginata (6%), and Theridion lawrencei (5%).
