Grasshoppers: effect of CO2 anesthesia
Journal of Economic Entomology 66 (2), 538-539
Abstract: Tests using Schistocerca americana and Melanoplus sanguinipes have shown that carbon dioxide can apparently be used to manipulate grasshoppers in the laboratory without detriment to them or without significantly altering their response to malathion. However, in tests using insecticide, prior anaesthesia resulted in slightly higher mortality.
