Typhlodromus perbibus Wainstein and Arutunjan a valid species: resurrection from synonymy with Typhlodromus athiasae Porath and Swirski (Acari: Phytoseiidae)
International Journal of Acarology 41 (3), 259-266
Abstract: Based on a taxonomic re-evaluation, Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) perbibus Wainstein and Arutunjan is resurrected from synonymy with Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) athiasae Porath and Swirski. Data revealed that this species can be clearly distinguished from T. athiasae by the following characteristics: peritreme extending to level of j1 in T. perbibus and to region between j3 and z2 in T. athiasae; most dorsal shield setae and leg IV macroseta are longer in T. athiasae. We here provide detailed redescriptions of females and males of both species and compare our findings with information available in the literatures.
