Schizoempodium mesophyllincola (Acari: Eriophyidae), a new genus and species from poplar
International Journal of Acarology 24 (4), 307-310
Abstract: Schizoempodium mesophyllincola n. gen., n. sp. (Eriophyidae), bearing a divided empodium and a prominent dorsal projection from the anal lobe, is reported from bronzed leaves of Populus trichocarpa Torr. and Grey and its hybrids in British Columbia and Washington. The mite reproduces within the mesophyll tissue to which it gains access by squeezing through the stomata.
