Hylobius pales (Herbst, 1797) - (pales weevil)

The weevil is a pest of pine seedlings in North America. The adults attack the shoots and the larvae the roots and wooden parts. The adult feeding causes the main damage, resulting in dead shoots and dead tip of the seedlings. The larvae feed mainly at the base of dying or dead trees or stumps.
