Hoplocampa Hartig, 1837
This genus of sawflies is found in Europe and North America and the species attack fruit trees like apple or plum. Economically, the most important pest is the apple sawfly, Hoplocampa testudinea.
The eggs are inserted into the flowers and the larvae tunnel and feed inside the developing fruits. They usually migrate from one fruit to another during their lifetime. When fully grown they drop to the ground and pupate in the soil. The pupae overwinter in the soil and the adults emerge the following spring.
