Globodera tabacum (Lownsbery & Lownsbery) - (tobacco cyst nematode)

The nematode is widely distributed and a serious pest of tobacco in North America. Other solaneceous hosts may be also infested. Up to 5 generations can be produced per year. Three subspecies have been described:
Globodera tabacum subsp. solanacearum
Globodera tabacum subsp. tabacum
Globodera tabacum subsp. virginiae
which differ in some morphological characters, host range and geographic distribution.
