[Long-term observation of apple blossom weevils (Anthonomus pomorum (L.)) and apple and thorn fruit weevils (Coenorhinus aequatus (L.)) and of the weevil fauna in integrated apple growing]
Gesunde Pflanzen 52 (4), 110-117
Abstract: From 1987 to 1999 long-term observations were carried out on the weevil fauna in an integrated apple plantation. The pests Anthonomus pomorum (L.) and Coenorhinus aequatus (L.) proved to require chemical control measures. During the above period A. pomorum had three infestation peaks and C. aequatus had increased in density from year to year since 1991. Insecticides had to be applied in the years from 1995 to 1999. Another six weevil species with high abundances of Polydrusus cervinus (L.) and Phyllobius arborator (Herbst) did not damage the apple trees. New knowledge of the bionomics of in particular the two damage-causing species and infestation of apple trees are presented.
