[Damage to cabbage by Thrips tabaci and Thrips angusticeps in Hesse]
Gesunde Pflanzen 35, 235-237
Abstract: In the southern and northern parts of Hesse we found between 1980 and 1987 a large number of Thrips tabaci and some Thrips angusticeps mainly inside white and red cabbage, savoy cabbage and brussels-sprouts together with the symptoms of the so-called "Korksucht" of cabbage. In some cases the cabbage was unsellable. We suppose that the formation of the so-called "Korkwarzen" has been produced by the sucking of the thrips. Control of thrips is possible with parathion or dimethoat. Further investigations are necessary to determine the most suitable time for those treatments to avoid thrips to enter into head cabbage.
