Furia virescens (entomopathogen) (Thaxt.) Humber (1989)

This fungus has been reported from Europe and North America as infecting Lepidoptera caterpillars like Spodoptera or Pseudaletia unipuncta. No rhizoids are formed, but larvae dying from infections remain attached to the leaves if they produce conidia. Other infected larvae produce resting spores.

For a review of the life cycle of this fungus see Hajek et al. (2018).
