Eupeodes corollae (predator) (Fabricius, 1794)

This hover fly is found in Europe, parts of Africa and in temperate and subtropical parts of Asia. It is a predator of aphids and the larvae have been reported to feeds on a variety of aphid species like those colonising cereals or vegetables.

The adults are 6-10 mm long with a black or dark brown colour. They have have yellow frons with a central vertical dark brown stripe. The abdomen has pairs of yellow marks or stripes. Males have usually larger marks than females.
