Epichloë coenophiala (entomopathogen) (Morgan-Jones & W. Gams) C.W. Bacon & Schardl 2014

The fungus is an endophyte of grasses which results in resistance to herbivores (or plant diseases). For biological control 'safe varieties' are used which do not form toxic alkaloids (which affect livestock). For information on the toxic varieties see the page: Epichloë coenophiala.

For details see the respective page in Wikipedia.
