Pheromone and blacklight trap monitoring of adult European corn borer (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in western Massachusetts
Environmental Entomology 12 (2), 531-534
Abstract: Adult European corn borer (ECB), Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner), was monitored in western Massachusetts by using black light (BL) traps and pheromone traps. Pheromone traps were better indicators of first-generation flights than BL traps. The 97:3 (Z) and (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetates and 3:97 (Z)- and (E)-11-tetradecenyl acetates populations occur sympatrically, which requires the use of both blends for monitoring ECB.
