Durations of pre-copulatory periods of laboratory-reared irradiated and non-irradiated male gypsy moths
Environmental Entomology 10 (3), 388-389
Abstract: Laboratory-reared irradiated and non-irradiated male gypsy moths were compared for the durations of their pre-copulatory and copulatory periods. Pre-copulatory duration was significantly different (P = 0.04) between irradiated (45.2 min) and non-irradiated (25.2 min) males, but not between their respective first and second matings. Copulatory duration of irradiated and non-irradiated males was not significantly different (P > 0.05); however, first matings were significantly longer (P = 0.01) than second matings in their durations (73 and 62 min, respectively).
