Sex attractant trapping of the European corn borer in New York
Environmental Entomology 1 (5), 606-608
Abstract: In New York, males of Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner) are attracted to trans-11-tetradecenyl acetate, and are only slightly inhibited by cis-11-tetradecenyl acetate. However, in the 2nd flight period (August), trans- 11-tetradecenyl acetate attracts few feral males, suggesting that the corn borers present in large numbers in August employ a different communication system.
