Entomophthora planchoniana (entomopathogen) Cornu 1873

This fungus is widely distributed and is regarded as an important pathogen of aphids. A variety of different aphid species have been reported as hosts. E. planchoniana forms special structures to keep the dead host aphid attached to the substrate. These are called rhizoids and emerge from the abdomen of the host. Primary conidia have a size of around 15-25 x 15 µm, secondary conidia a size of around 15 x 12 µm.
