E.H. Slifer (1966)
A gynandromorph grasshopper that laid eggs (Orthoptera, Acrididae)
Entomological News 77 (6), 148-156
Abstract: Previous reports on gynandromorph Acrididae are listed and their anatomical characters described. The external and internal anatomy of this Melanoplus differentialis gynandromorph are examined. A pad containing 52 eggs was produced. One egg hatched but the nymph died. In two others development had begun and continued for at least a week. The other eggs showed no sign of development. A possible cause of the aberration, cytological in origin, is given.
