Macrohomotoma gladiata Kuwayama, 1908 (Hemiptera: Psylloidea): a new pest of Ficus microcarpa L.f. in Tunisia

Abstract: This paper reports for the first time the presence of the Ficus psyllid Macrohomotoma gladiata Kuwayama, 1908 (Hemiptera: Psylloidea) in Tunisia. It was detected infesting urban Ficus microcarpa L.f. planted along streets in Tunis, in September 2020. Brief notes on diagnostic features of both adult and juvenile instars, geographic distribution and symptoms are presented. The situation concerning this pest in Tunisia is described and possible phytosanitary risks and measures are discussed.
