Duponchelia fovealis Zeller, 1847 - (European pepper moth)
This moth is found in Europe (e.g. in greenhouses) and appears to be native in the Mediterranean region. It has spread to various parts of Africa, Asia and the Americas. For example, it has been reported from South America since 2010 (Zawadneak et al. 2016). It feeds on a number of crops like pepper, tomatoes, cucumber and strawberries, damaging leaves and fruits. The adults have a wingspan of around 2 cm with dark and lighter brown forewings that are crossed by 2 lines.
