This is a genus of grasses, found mainly in temperate regions. Some species like Danthonia spicata (poverty oatgrass), a perennial bunch-type grass, are part of turfgrass areas in some countries. However, D. spicata can be also weedy in blueberry (e.g. White & Zhang, 2019).
