Ceratitis cosyra (Walker) - (mango fruit fly, marula fruit fly)

This fruit fly is widespread in sub-Saharan, where it infests mangoes and a variety of other fruits. Mango and marula fruits (Sclerocarya birrea) are preferred. It is also called "marula fruit fly". It should be noted that the name "mango fruit fly" is also used for Bactrocera frauenfeldi, a species found in south-eastern Asia, as well as parts of northern Australia and the Pacific.
