Cerataphis Lichtenstein, 1882
This genus of aphids is widely distributed and contains around 10 species. The apterous stage is flat and round with a fringe of wax around the outer margin. The nymphs resemble those of whiteflies. Several species are pests on palm trees like Cerataphis brasiliensis. Palms and sometimes bamboo are the host plants for the asexual, unwinged form, whereas the sexual, winged stage forms galls on dicots like Styrax trees.
