Cacopsylla chinensis (Yang & Li, 1981) - (Chinese pear psylla)
This psyllid is found in eastern Asia where it is an important pest of pear trees. It feeds on leaves or buds and can cause severe sooty mould on the leaves as well as leaf drop and yield losses (e.g. see Tian et al., 2015). Outbreaks have been reported from China and Taiwan.
The adult has a body length of around 3 mm. Like in several other Cacopsylla species, there is a lighter summer form and a darker winter form. Taxonomic studies (Cho et al., 2017) have shown that in some countries, C. chinensis has been confused with several closely related species.
