Abstract: In 1996-98 a survey was carried out to check for the presence and the distribution of phytoseiid mites in 30 vineyards, both of wine grapes and table grapes, in Basilicata region, South Italy.
The monitoring conducted during spring-summer and wintertime, revealed the constant presence of Typhlodromus exhilaratus Ragusa, with a total frequency of 53.77%, followed by Cydnodromus californicus (Mc Gregor) with 14.31%; Kampimodromus aberrans (Oudemans), with 14.24% and Phytoseius finitimus Ribaga, sensu Denmark (1966), with 13.88%.
Seiulus soleiger Ribaga, Amblyseius andersoni (Chant), Seiulus talbii (Athias-Henriot) and Typhlodromus cryptus Athias-Henriot, have been found intermittently.
