Belonolaimidae - (sting nematodes)

This family of nematodes contains around 15 genera and more than 100 medium- to large-sized species. Economically the most important member is Belonolaimus longicaudatus.

The morphological characteristics of the family include, among others, the structure of the oesophagus and the length of the tails (more than twice as long as wide). The stylet is slender. The lip region has 4 lips and 2 reduced ones or six sectors and the females have 2 gonads.
