Puccinia hordei on barley and Ornithogalum umbellatum in South Australia
Australasian Plant Pathology 21 (3), 95-97
Abstract: Aecia of P. hordei were found on Star of Bethlehem (O. umbellatum, Liliaceae) in pasture paddocks on Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. The plant has become an important weed in some areas and is proving difficult to control. A range of virulence combinations was found in leaf rust collected from the alternate host. It is suggested that the weed is responsible for the outbreak of epidemics of barley leaf rust in the region.
