Life table parameters and biological characteristics of Apomyelois ceratoniae Zeller (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) on three cultivars of pomegranate
Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection 46 (7), 766-773
Abstract: The biological characteristics and life table parameters of Apomyelois ceratoniae on the three commercial cultivars of pomegranate including Malas daneh siah, Gabri and Shahvar were determined. Larvae were reared on three cultivars in the laboratory at 30 ± 1 °C, 70 ± 5% RH and 16:8 (L:D) h photoperiod. The highest value of the finite rate of increase (λ) were observed in Shahvar cultivar. The intrinsic rate of increase (r m) values was 0.079 ± 0.004, 0.088 ± 0.003 and 0.105 ± 0.003 on Malas daneh siah, Gabri and Shahvar cultivars, respectively and highest value was recorded on Shahvar cultivar. The net reproductive rate (R 0) value varied from 26.71 ± 4.1 female offspring on Malas daneh siah to 51.01 ± 6.4 female offspring on Gabri. The highest amounts of the gross reproductive rate of A. ceratoniae were observed on Shahvar. The lowest mean generation time (T) was observed on Shahvar and there were not significant differences between Gabri and Malas daneh siah.
