Virus-free chrysanthemums: Production and quality management
Archives of Phytopathology and Plant Protection 42 (10), 940-949
Abstract: Tomato aspermy virus (TAV), along with Cucumber mosaic (CMV), Chrysanthemum B viruses (CVB) found infecting chrysanthemum cv. Regol Time either alone or in mixed conditions were eradicated from the plants using in vitro techniques combined with meristem tip culture, chemotherapy and thermotherapy. The plants were indexed by bioassay, enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Tissue cultured CMV, CVB and TAV-free chrysanthemum plants grown in the field showed a significant increase in the growth parameters (plant height, length of spray or branch, number of spray per plant, number of flower per spray, number of flower per plant, diameter of flower and duration of flowering) in comparison to diseased plants.
