Antonina crawi Cockerell, 1900
This species of mealybug is found in eastern Asia on bamboo. It has been also collected from bamboo in North America (California). However, this record is based on a single collection from a Japanese bamboo nursery in 1900 (1 female and 12 first instar nymphs from that collection are kept in the US National Museum of Natural History). There are no further records from North America and the species seems to have disappeared again from the U.S. (Williams & Miller, 2002).
A. crawi it is very similar to Antonina nakaharai, an introduced bamboo pest in North America, and both species can be easily confused (Williams & Miller, 2002).
