Anthonomus signatus Say - (strawberry bud weevil)

The weevil is found in North America, where it breeds inside the buds of strawberries, raspberries and other plants. After depositing an egg inside the bud, the female weevil girdles the petiole to stop development of the fruit. However, weevil damage has rarely a significant effect on berry yield (McPhie & Burrack, 2017).
