Agriotes sordidus (Illiger, 1807)

This species of click beetle is native to southern Europe, but has expanded its range to the north, e.g. Netherlands and northern parts of Germany. The larvae (wireworms) infest cereals and other crops, feeding on the roots, while the adults feed on the leaves, but cause little damage. Eggs are laid in the soil and the larvae go through 8-13 instars before pupating, usually after 2 years (Barsics et al., 2013).
