Abstract: Gregarina acridiorum is a large gregarine common in the midgut of Orthoptera. It was discovered by Léger in 1893 in Algeria and has since been mentioned in many localities in Europe, Africa and North America. Its host specificity is very low: it can be found in many ACRIDOIDEA and its presence in TETTIGONIOIDEA, though less frequent, is well established. GRYLLOIDEA and GRYLLACRIDOIDEA, seem to be free from it. In the present work the species has been described, its affinities with closely related species has been analyzed, and we have summed up the present data about - its geographical distribution and its host specificity. At the same time many new localities and hosts have been mentioned.

Gregarina acridiorum est une Grégarine de grande taille fort commune dans l'intestin moyen des Insectes Orthoptères, Découverte chez des Acridiens d'Algérie par Léger en 1893, elle a, depuis; été signalée de nombreuses localités d'Europe, d'Afrique et d'Amérique du Nord. Sa spécificité parasitaire est très faible car elle se rencontre chez de nombreux ACRIDOIDEA et sa présence chez les TETTIGONIOIDEA, quoique moins fréquente, est bien établie. Les GRYLLOIDEA et les GRYLLACRIDOIDEA en paraissent indemnes. Dans le présent_. travail, 1,'espèce est décrite, ses affinités avec des espèces voisines sont analysées, un bilan des données actuelles sur sa répartition géographique et sa spécificité parasitaire est dressé; à cette occasion de nombreux localités et hôtes nouveaux sont mentionnés.
