Stratiolaelaps (predators) Berlese, 1916

This genus of mites is widely distributed and contains 2 species of polyphagous soil-living predators that are regarded as important biological control agents of several agricultural pests like thrips and sciarids. They are produced commercially. The species of Stratiolaelaps have strong chelicerae, long and pointed corniculi (a pair horn-like processes that arise from the anterior edge of the subcapitulum), as well as spatulate setae on the shield.
