Scirpophaga nivella (Fabricius)

The larvae of this moth are up to 40-50 mm long, initially brownish than whitish with a red dorsal line. The tip of the abdomen of female moths has a red tuft. It attacks leaves and bud leaves of sugarcane in Asia and can cause dead-hearts.
