Oulema melanopa (Linnaeus, 1758) - (cereal leaf beetle)

The beetle feeds on the leaves of cereals like wheat, barley, rye, oats and sometimes maize. It is native to Europe and northern parts of Asia and has been reported from North America since 1962. The main damage is caused by the larvae. The adults are about 5 mm long and overwinter under the bark of trees or in the cereal stubble.
