[Neem and rotetona effects on Bemisia tabaci Gennadius (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) and Liriomyza huidobrensis Blanchard (Diptera: Agromyzidae) tomato pests in Peru]
Agronomía Tropical 51 (1), 65-79
Abstract: The toxicological effect of the botanical extracts of neem and rotenone in preventiva and curative doses were assayed, as weil as convencional chemicals, on tornato pests control such as white fly Bemisia tabaci and leafminer fly Liriomyza huidobrensis. The effects on biological controls as parasitoid microwaps of L. huidobrensis, the pteromalid Halticoptera arduine and the eulophid Diglyphus spp. and on the chrysopid predator Chrysoperla externa of B. tabaci were analyzed. The present research took place from may to october 1997, at Tajahuana's law country property at Ica-Perú, using the variety Heinz 3302 and mechanical sowing. The design was CRDB with four replicases and five treatments. The comparativa effectiveness between rotenone, neem and conventional chemicals on nymphal and adult of white fly, on larvarie and adults of leafminer fly and adult population of parasitoid microwaps of leafminer fly (pteromalids and eulophids) were the same on five treatments, but neem was slightiy more efficient. The neem extract were the second place in relation to yield, but the cost-benefic quotient was the best compared to other pesticides.
