Cripavirus mortiferum (entomopathogen)

Assigned virus:
aphid lethal paralysis virus (ALPV)

This aphid lethal paralysis virus infects a variety of aphid species, but also insects from other orders like Hymenoptera and Coleoptera. Among others, it can infect honey bees (Granberg et al., 2013). Most insects in which ALPV infections have been demonstrated did not show any symptoms. However, spray-applied, purified ALPV virions caused high mortality in Myzus persicae (Dombrovsky & Luria, 2013).
