First report of atypical scab caused by Venturia asperata on apple in China
Plant Disease 105 (6 - 2431)
Abstract: During 2018, apple trees, cultivar 'Huangtaiping' (Malus pumila Mill.) grown in Heilongjiang Province, China were observed with symptoms of an atypical scab disease with black spots (3 to 5 mm diameter). The fungus Venturia asperata was isolated from the diseased plants. The identification was based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence analysis. Pathogenicity of the isolates was demonstrated by inoculation and re-isolation.
