Cacopsylla pyri behaviour on new pear selections for host resistance programs
Bulletin of Insectology 59 (1), 23-37
Abstract: The resistance to Cacopsylla pyri (L.) (Rhynchota Psyllidae) of different pear genotypes using phenotypical screening was evaluated on 33 genotypes from 2003 to 2005. Antixenosis, which arises from the settling of the adults and their reduced oviposition rate, and nymphal antibiosis were recorded using free choice tests. The transfer of resistance to C. pyri in interspecies crosses between the European pear species Pyrus communis L. and Asian pear species, such as P. ussuriensis Maximowicz and P. pyrifolia Nakai, to part of the progeny was possible.
