Myllocerus Schönherr, 1823

This a large genus of broad-nosed weevils with more than 300 species. A few of them are economically damaging to crops, with the adults feeding on the leaves and the larvae destroying the roots. For example, the Sri Lankan weevil belongs to this genus. It is native to Sri Lanka and has been accidentally introduced into south-eastern North America (first record in 2000). It is polyphagous and has become a significant pest in Florida on crops like fruit trees and ornamentals.
