Bactrocera minax (Enderlein, 1920) - (Chinese citrus fruit fly)
The fruit fly infests citrus in eastern Asia where it is considered to be an important pest. The eggs are laid into citrus fruits when they have a diameter of at least 1 cm. The life cycle is unusual for a species of Bactrocera, with only one generation per year. It pupates in the soil and overwinters as diapausing pupa, before emerging as adult in the spring.
Synonyms:
Mellesis citri
Polistomimetes minax
