Chelonus inanitus (parasitoid) (Linnaeus, 1767)

This wasp is a solitary egg-larval parasitoid of Spodoptera species like Spodoptera littoralis. The symbiotic polydnavirus of C. inanitus has been well studied, e.g. see Bonvin et al. (2005). It protects the parasitoid larva from the host's immune system and induces developmental arrest in the prepupal stage.
