Copitarsia Hampson, 1906
The genus includes around 20 species of cutworms (Noctuidae) found in South and Central America, including several agricultural pests like Copitarsia decolora. Most of these are polypagus infesting crops like ornamentals, asparagus or brassicas. Substantial yield losses have been reported for some crops in South America and some species are considered to be quarantine pests in the U.S.A. and are frequently intercepted on vegetable or cut flowers (e.g. see Venette and Gould, 2006).
