Opogona sacchari Bojer - (banana moth)

The moth is found in various tropical and subtropical regions and attacks a variety of crops. Common hosts are banana plants, sugarcane, Dracaena and several palms.

The caterpillars typically feed initially on injured plant parts and then attack the healthy tissue. They can damage leaves, stems or roots.
