Acalymma vittata (Fabricius) - striped cucumber beetle
is a serious pest of melons and other cucurbits in North America. The adults damage seedlings and the larvae the roots, stem and fruits. It also transmits the bacterial wilt of cucurbits (Erwinia tracheiphila).
