Aedes albopictus (Skuse) - Asian tiger mosquito
is native in Asia. It is found since 1986 in North America (where it apparently has displaced Aedes aegypti in certain habitats). South America has been invaded around the same time and since 1987 it has been reported from Europe. A vector of dengue fever, dog heartworm (Dirofilaria immitis) and other diseases.
